DG Set MonitoringRun hours, fuel and controller readings from unmanned generators — and a text the moment something changes
The DG controller on Modbus, the fuel sensor on 4–20 mA, the run and changeover contacts on digital inputs. The gateway logs them all on one clock, texts the site engineer when the DG starts, stops or runs low on fuel, and sends everything to your fleet dashboard — even from a site where the network comes and goes.
Step 1 of 5Mains is on and the DG is idle. The gateway logs the fuel level, the changeover state and the controller's readings.
Step 2 of 5Mains fails and the DG starts. The run contact closes: a trigger texts the site engineer, and the run-hour clock starts counting.
Step 3 of 5While it runs, the gateway reads volts, frequency, load and engine hours from the controller and sends them on the log interval.
Step 4 of 5Fuel falls below the set point. A trigger texts the engineer with the level in the message, and the event reaches the server at once.
Step 5 of 5Mains returns and the DG stops. The run's hours and the fuel it used are on the server, so litres per hour can be compared run by run.

What the gateway does here
Edge triggerA text for every event that mattersThe DG starts, the DG stops, fuel below its set point, an alarm bit in the controller's status word: each rule fires once when its condition comes true and texts up to five numbers.
Run hoursHours that match the hour meterOn the WT460M a configurable input clocks how long the run contact stays closed, and the total can be set remotely to match the DG's own hour meter.
One clockFuel and hours you can divideFuel level, run state and the controller's readings carry the same time stamp, so litres per hour — and a level that falls while the DG is stopped — show up on your dashboard.
Store & forwardRural sites with a patchy networkEvery reading is logged through a network drop and sent oldest first, with its own time stamp, when coverage returns.
Two serversYour dashboard and your customer'sOn PRO and MAX the same readings can go to two servers at once — the rental company's fleet view and the site owner's own.
Supply watchA warning before the gateway goes quietThe gateway measures its own supply voltage; a rule can text when the battery feeding it runs low.
Fuel theft is spotted on your dashboardThe gateway sends the level and the run state on one clock and texts at fixed set points. Spotting a level that drops while the DG is stopped is a rule for your server, not a set point.
Level is not litresA 4–20 mA fuel sensor reads height. The tank's shape turns height into litres, and that table belongs in your dashboard.
Controllers publish different mapsDG controllers lay out their Modbus registers differently. Tell us the make and model and we load and check its map before the gateway ships.
Starting and stopping stay with the DGThe gateway watches and reports. Starting, stopping and the changeover stay with the DG's own controller and the changeover panel.

Questions
Which DG controllers can the gateway read?
Any controller with a Modbus RTU port and a published register map — most current AMF and genset controllers have one. The map is loaded into the gateway during configuration; tell us the make and model and we will confirm.
How does the gateway know the DG is running?
From the DG's run contact on a digital input, or from the run state in the controller's own registers. Either can drive a trigger that texts the engineer when the DG starts or stops.
Can it detect diesel theft?
It gives you what theft detection needs: fuel level and run state on one clock, logged through outages. A fall in level while the DG is stopped is spotted by a rule on your dashboard. The gateway itself texts at fixed set points, such as low fuel.
Can the run hours match the DG's hour meter?
Yes, on the WT460M. Its run-hour counter can be set to the reading on the DG's hour meter at commissioning, and cleared or set again later, without a site visit.
Who gets the SMS?
Up to five numbers, each texted from the gateway's own SIM on the 4G PRO and MAX models. The message carries the live value and the time; a daily limit keeps a faulty sensor from emptying the balance.
What if the site has poor coverage?
Readings are logged in the gateway and sent oldest first, with their original time stamps, when coverage returns; the triggers keep running on the gateway meanwhile.
